Staff Software Engineer

Snowflake is powering the era of the agentic enterprise, providing a cloud-based data platform that enables customers to unify data across clouds. The Dynamic Tables team is a core part of Snowflake’s Data Engineering strategy, focusing on declarative streaming transformation primitives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of performance improvements to the incremental view maintenance engine
• Define the roadmap for the incremental view maintenance engine, identifying key performance and scalability milestones
• Collaborate across teams to co-design improvements for incremental pipelines
• Mentor engineers, drive design reviews, and raise the technical bar through architectural leadership
• Contribute to the research and publication roadmap for top-tier database conferences

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building and optimizing large-scale data systems
• Deep expertise in query optimization, incremental/stream processing, or materialized view maintenance
• Strong computer science fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and distributed systems
• Proficiency in C++ or Java
• Experience with systems-level performance analysis including profiling and benchmarking
• Ability to lead multi-engineer, cross-team technical initiatives
• Experience operating systems at cloud scale (multi-tenant SaaS, petabyte-scale data)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with a major analytical DBMS (BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks, etc.)
• Familiarity with stream processing algorithms
• Experience with CDC pipelines, data lake architectures (Iceberg, Delta), or the data engineering ecosystem
• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Computer Science with an emphasis on database systems
