Staff Software Engineer, Routing

Responsibilities

• Architect and own critical systems spanning route planning and dispatch, including optimization algorithms and real-time tracking infrastructure.
• Design scalable backend services to handle the execution of hundreds of thousands of routes in real time.
• Build web interfaces and APIs that allow dispatchers and fleet managers to monitor deliveries from a single pane of glass.
• Implement integrations with TMS/ERP systems to process millions of route events daily.
• Mentor senior engineers, set technical direction, and raise the bar for design and code quality across the team.
• Partner with PMs, designers, and engineers to balance immediate customer needs with long-term architectural scalability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• At least 2 years in an architect or technical leadership role.
• Proven experience designing and architecting large-scale, high-scale distributed systems.
• Strong programming, coding, and design fundamentals.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven experience shaping and improving routing products.
• Demonstrated experience with geospatial data, real-time systems, and fleet management platforms.
• Experience building for mobile (React Native, iOS/Android), specifically GPS or navigation applications.
• A track record of thriving in 0→1 environments and scaling teams through post-startup phases.
• Prior startup or founder experience.
