Staff Software Engineer, Privacy

Responsibilities

• Architect for EU Compliance by designing data handling systems that satisfy GDPR requirements and consent management frameworks
• Develop and optimize computer vision and ML pipelines for sensor data anonymization (faces, license plates) at the edge and in the cloud
• Write scalable code in C++, Java, or Kotlin to enforce retention policies, access controls, and data minimization
• Partner with Legal and Policy teams to translate regulatory texts into engineering specifications
• Conduct privacy impact assessments and threat modeling for new features and cross-border data transfers

Requirements

• BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
• 8+ years of software engineering experience focused on privacy, security, or data infrastructure
• Proficiency in Python, C++, or Java
• Deep understanding of GDPR
• Experience with large-scale data processing frameworks (e.g., Flume, MapReduce) and cloud infrastructure

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience launching products in the EEA or UK for a US-based tech company
• Familiarity with privacy-preserving machine learning (Differential Privacy, Federated Learning, or Homomorphic Encryption)
• Experience building user-facing products
