Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the team defining and building Muon’s satellite bus platform
• Architect design and execution for mission software and firmware requirements
• Design, bring up, and support embedded software environments using ARM Cortex-M CPUs
• Guide technology selection for the software foundation
• Write application, platform, and driver functionality
• Build architectural patterns, shared libraries, and technical strategy documents
• Integrate compute and peripheral subsystems in software and hardware
• Collaborate with hardware teams on design and bring up
• Align team roadmaps with product requirements and mission needs
• Define metrics to achieve aggressive company goals
• Ensure effective software and hardware-in-the-loop test strategies
• Mentor senior engineers

Requirements

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of experience as a software engineer in a team environment
• Strong C/C++ programming skills
• Deep understanding of embedded systems: distributed architecture, resource-efficient design, low-level drivers, and RTOS frameworks
• Experience with integration and control of external hardware devices
• Ability to read and understand hardware data sheets
• Excellent communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in flight software or closely related domains
• Proficiency in Rust and Python
• Knowledge of ProtoBuf, YAML, or JSON
• Familiarity with Linux-based development environments
• Experience with embedded Linux, FPGA, HW design, RF communication, or cloud infrastructure
