Staff Software Engineer, Motion Planning

Responsibilities

• Develop state-of-the-art motion planning algorithms for safe and smooth autonomous navigation
• Design and build robust, scalable software for rapid exploration of motion planning approaches
• Collaborate with upstream decision/behavior planning, prediction, and downstream motion tracking teams
• Define and execute multi-quarter technical roadmaps and OKRs across multiple sub-systems
• Lead technical discussions and establish team-level processes for system-level design and review
• Own system-level architecture for core products and drive incident response to optimize reliability
• Mentor junior and senior team members to cultivate a culture of product-focused engineering

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in C++
• Bachelor's degree required; Masters or PhD preferred in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Experience with algorithm development in motion planning, navigation, or safety-critical systems
• Proven experience leading technical development from problem formulation through implementation to delivery
