Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own the technical architecture and evolution of billing, payments, and invoicing systems
• Design and implement resilient payment processing with support for multiple gateways like Stripe
• Build comprehensive monitoring and reporting for revenue operations, including reconciliation dashboards and audit trails
• Partner with finance and operations teams to automate refund workflows and resolve billing disputes
• Drive adoption of revenue system best practices such as idempotent processing and distributed transaction handling
• Manage integrations with external systems including ERP and data analytics platforms

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on engineering experience focused on revenue or payment platforms
• Proven ability to design distributed revenue systems handling edge cases like partial failures and currency conversion
• Expertise in database and financial data, including transaction isolation and audit logging
• Production knowledge of payment gateways (Stripe, PayPal) and compliance requirements like PCI-DSS
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, GPT Codex, or Windsurf)
• Must be local to the Seattle area

Preferred Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science or a relevant engineering discipline
• Expert-level experience with proration logic, multi-currency support, and revenue recognition
• Deep expertise in Java, JVM performance, and concurrency
• Experience with Scala
• Proficiency with the following stack: TypeScript, React, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and AWS
