Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction and implement a technical vision and roadmap
• Lead large, cross-team initiatives through the entire development lifecycle
• Lead multiple engineering teams (10-15 engineers) towards a common goal
• Work cross-functionally with designers and product managers to solve real-world problems
• Own real-world metrics shifts and company-defining business outcomes
• Moderate technical discussions and ensure platform evolution
• Leverage automation testing and deployment for rapid iteration
• Coach engineers and drive hiring of top talent

Requirements

• MS or BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 10+ years of experience building customer-centric applications
• Proven track record designing distributed systems and consumer-facing software
• Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures
• Experience with Agile, TDD/BDD, and CI/CD processes
• Experience with MySQL and Postgres
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to succeed in high-ambiguity environments
• Ability to work in-office in Santa Monica, New York City, or Seattle

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced-level knowledge of Scala
• Advanced degree in a technical field
• Experience in high-growth environments
• Experience leveraging AI technology to streamline engineering
