Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and build high-performance, secure, and well-documented UI and APIs
• Develop database schemas and manage diverse data systems including SQL, NoSQL, and Vector DBs
• Drive implementation of front-end and backend services with a focus on reliability
• Diagnose and optimize system bottlenecks for high availability and low latency
• Leverage AWS, Kubernetes, and modern DevOps practices for production-grade deployment
• Collaborate with ML researchers and scientists to integrate data pipelines into scientific workflows

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years of engineering experience building large-scale production systems
• Strong backend expertise
• Full stack development experience with React, TypeScript, Tailwind, FastAPI, SQL/NoSQL, Python, and Pydantic
• Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally with scientists and data engineers

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to laboratory software for life sciences or material sciences
• Experience with laboratory devices, robotics, or hardware drivers
• Experience with orchestration platforms like Airflow, Prefect, Temporal, or Dagster
• Proficiency with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, CloudFormation, and GitHub Actions
