Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and build high-performance, secure, and well-documented UIs and APIs
• Develop schemas and manage diverse data systems including SQL, NoSQL, and vector databases
• Drive implementation of front-end and backend services with a focus on performance and reliability
• Diagnose and resolve system bottlenecks and ensure high availability
• Leverage AWS, Kubernetes, and modern DevOps practices for production-grade systems
• Collaborate with ML researchers and scientists to integrate data pipelines into scientific workflows

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 6–8+ years of engineering experience building large-scale production systems
• Expertise in front-end engineering, backend engineering, or data modeling
• Strong experience with React and TypeScript
• Proficiency in Python
• Experience with SQL, NoSQL, and vector databases
• Proven ability to design and scale RESTful or GraphQL APIs
• Experience in life sciences, materials science, or data-intensive fields

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Terraform, or CloudFormation
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines like GitHub Actions
• Experience with orchestration tools such as Flyte, Temporal, Airflow, or Prefect
• Background building LIMS, ELN, or ML platform products
