Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure

Responsibilities

• Influence technical direction for infrastructure and platform capabilities
• Architect and evolve cloud infrastructure on AWS using Kubernetes, ECS, and serverless technologies
• Design robust, observable, and compliant systems in a healthcare environment
• Define infrastructure strategy, roadmaps, and standards
• Secure networking, identity, and access patterns
• Improve reliability through SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets
• Lead blameless post-incident reviews and implement systemic improvements
• Own observability and monitoring strategy across logging, metrics, and tracing
• Mentor engineers and guide architecture decisions
• Partner with security and compliance stakeholders for HIPAA requirements
• Implement developer experience improvements and CI/CD workflows

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on infrastructure or platform development experience
• Deep expertise with AWS or GCP (networking, compute, storage, managed services)
• Proficiency in Python or another infrastructure scripting language
• Extensive experience building tooling and automation for engineers
• Strong experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
• Solid Linux fundamentals and debugging skills
• Proven track record of leading complex, cross-team initiatives
• Strong communication and mentoring skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in regulated environments like HIPAA or healthtech
• Background in platform or security engineering
• Experience working with ML/data teams or ML platforms (Airflow, Ray)
• Familiarity with observability stacks (CloudWatch, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
• Experience designing internal developer platforms or SDKs
• Prior experience in a fast-growing startup environment
