Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own a major domain within the market making pipeline including pricing engine, order management, or PnL/risk infrastructure
• Build and maintain systems that process high-throughput, low-latency event streams
• Partner with Senior Staff engineers and trading teams on cross-domain technical decisions
• Contribute to the exchange abstraction layer and define APIs for new venues
• Build and improve internal Trading UI tooling such as dashboards and kill switches
• Diagnose and respond to production issues in a live trading environment
• Proactively identify performance bottlenecks and technical risks
• Contribute to team-level engineering standards including design docs and code reviews
• Develop fluency in trading economics such as spread logic and inventory risk

Requirements

• 7+ years building scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems in production
• Strong hands-on proficiency with Java, Kafka, Redis, Kubernetes, AWS, and Postgres
• Deep experience with event-driven architecture and async messaging
• Demonstrated end-to-end domain ownership of designed and operated systems
• Strong performance instincts regarding latency, throughput, and data pipeline efficiency
• Clear, direct communication skills for design docs and production failure analysis
• High risk tolerance for ambiguity and fast-paced deployment cycles

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years building systems where latency, throughput, and cost efficiency are in tension
• Experience in real-time trading, financial infrastructure, or prediction markets
• Familiarity with FIX protocol or exchange connectivity patterns
• Working knowledge of quantitative concepts like pricing models or spread optimization
