Staff Software Engineer, Data Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of the Caspian Data Platform, focusing on ingestion, transformation, governance, and data quality.
• Define engineering patterns and reference architectures for Databricks pipelines while remaining hands-on with production code.
• Establish benchmarks for data quality, including data contracts, lineage, and validation frameworks.
• Drive the technical direction for applying AI across data engineering, including agentic systems and LLM integration.
• Mentor senior engineers and act as a technical bar raiser to improve code quality and engineering rigor across the team.

Requirements

• 10+ years of data engineering experience with a track record of architecting large-scale data platforms.
• Deep mastery of Databricks, including Delta Live Tables, Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, and Spark.
• Expert-level proficiency in SQL and Python for complex data modeling and platform tooling.
• Strong experience operating data systems at scale within AWS environments.
• Proven experience driving AI tooling into data engineering workflows, such as building agentic systems or integrating LLMs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience translating complex technical tradeoffs for both engineering teams and executive leadership.
• Ability to lead ambiguous, multi-quarter initiatives from initial problem statement to full delivery.
