Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own the product platform by leading the design and delivery of backend systems, including APIs, data models, and services.
• Make critical technical decisions regarding domain modeling and the balance between scalability and rapid iteration.
• Drive major initiatives from technical design through to production launch.
• Work across the stack, including frontend and mobile, utilizing AI tools to maintain high velocity in unfamiliar areas.
• Set engineering standards through architecture, code reviews, and the implementation of AI-first development workflows.
• Mentor engineers and raise the overall technical bar of the team.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional engineering experience with a proven track record of owning production systems.
• Deep backend expertise in API design, data modeling, and building scalable services.
• An AI-first development mindset, utilizing AI coding tools to delegate implementation while focusing on high-level design and review.
• Strong technical judgment and the ability to make trade-offs between speed and extensibility.
• A product-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering value to end users.
• Excellent communication skills to explain technical trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
