Staff Software Engineer, Backend

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of complex, ambiguous backend systems for the Core Leads squad
• Provide system-wide architecture guidance and influence design decisions across teams
• Develop scalable, reliable, high-quality software solutions
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, Analysts, and Engineers in cross-functional squads
• Mentor and develop engineers through code reviews and design discussions
• Prototype emerging technologies and integrate AI coding assistants and LLMs into daily workflows
• Verify AI-generated outputs for security, performance, and accuracy

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of software development experience
• 3+ years contributing to architecture and system design
• Proficiency in Python (FastAPI, Pydantic, NumPy, Pandas) and React
• Experience with database systems and AWS
• Track record of delivering customer value quickly with iterative feedback
• Deep understanding of system design trade-offs
• Strong software engineering best practices including testing, code reviews, and documentation
