Staff Software Engineer - Backend (AI Platform)

Responsibilities

• Architect and build the WorkOS engine, designing scalable backend services to orchestrate complex AI workflows and real-time data streaming
• Establish engineering gold standards, including CI/CD, observability, security, and system integrity
• Design and build data infrastructure using relational, schemaless, and vector stores to power autonomous agents
• Solve distributed complexity challenges, ensuring low-latency communication and data consistency when integrating AI into enterprise stacks
• Own the full product lifecycle, from rapid prototyping of new agent capabilities to maintaining production-grade systems at scale
• Lead pioneer deployments for strategic partners to solve real-world operational complexities

Requirements

• 8–12+ years of professional backend engineering experience, with significant experience as a Staff Engineer or Technical Lead
• Deep expertise in Python, Go, or Node.js, including experience with microservices and high-throughput data pipelines
• Hands-on experience with LLM orchestration (e.g., LangChain) and RAG architectures
• Proficiency with vector databases such as Pinecone or Milvus
• Proven ability to design "platform-first" architectures focused on APIs, modularity, and extensibility
• Ability to work on-site full time in the UAE to support high-intensity collaboration
• Experience with high-scale distributed systems and a focus on system performance and observability
