Staff Software Engineer, AI DevX

Responsibilities

• Architect and own developer tooling and infrastructure to enable engineers to build software faster with AI
• Build platforms that accelerate agent-driven engineering and empower AI to perform better on Ramp development tasks
• Stay at the forefront of the AI development ecosystem and evaluate emerging tools
• Drive proficiency with effective AI coding tools and practices across the engineering organization
• Gather developer feedback to identify friction points and iterate on solutions to improve velocity
• Grow AI vendor partnerships and serve as an advocate for Ramp’s engineers

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Deep backend engineering expertise in infrastructure, services, and data systems
• Proficiency in Python
• Strong Bash/Unix fundamentals
• Experience in fast-paced startup environments
• Strong AI fluency and AI coding tool proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

• Active power user of AI coding agents
• Proven track record shipping and maintaining developer tools
• Experience building AI-powered systems
• Experience leading technical teams and owning technical roadmaps
• Background in AI/ML with ability to understand research papers
• Expertise in Data Engineering, Frontend Engineering, Docker, or Terraform
