Staff Software Engineer (AI Agents)

Responsibilities

• Architect Traba's agent platform end-to-end, including orchestration runtime, eval/observability stacks, and integration layers for customer systems (WMS/TMS/ERP).
• Own foundational technical decisions regarding model strategy, agent harness design, retrieval/memory architecture, and tool/MCP surfaces.
• Build evaluation as a rigorous engineering discipline using datasets, graders, and regression suites to ensure reliable agent deployments.
• Spend time in the field with customers to translate real-world industrial operations into durable product patterns and architecture.
• Hire and mentor engineers, setting the technical standards for applied AI at the company.
• Partner with the CTO and product leadership to define and execute the multi-year platform roadmap.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on production experience working with LLM or agent-based systems.
• Deep proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js.
• Strong track record designing distributed systems, APIs, and data models using PostgreSQL and messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Demonstrated ownership of a non-trivial production agent system, including orchestration, tool use, and cost/latency tuning.
• Experience leading 0-to-1 product builds in early-stage, high-ambiguity environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in vertical AI, AI-agent companies, or AI-native data companies.
• Experience in a Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) role.
• Exposure to supply chain, logistics, or industrial operations.
