Staff Software Engineer (AI Agents)

Responsibilities

• Architect Traba's agent platform end-to-end, including orchestration runtime, evaluation stacks, and observability.
• Own foundational technical decisions regarding model strategy, retrieval/memory architecture, and tool/MCP surfaces.
• Build evaluation as an engineering discipline using datasets, graders, and regression suites.
• Spend time in the field with customers to translate operational workflows into durable product patterns.
• Hire and mentor engineers while setting high technical standards for applied AI.
• Partner with the CTO and product leadership to define the multi-year platform roadmap.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on production work with LLM or agent-based systems.
• Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js.
• Experience designing distributed systems, APIs, and data models using PostgreSQL.
• Experience with modern messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Proven track record of leading 0-to-1 product builds in early-stage environments.
• Experience with orchestration, tool use, retrieval, and cost/latency tuning in production agents.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in vertical AI, AI-agent companies, or AI-native data companies.
• Experience in a Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) role.
• Exposure to supply chain, logistics, or industrial operations.
