Staff Software Engineer (AI Agents)

Responsibilities

• Architect Traba's agent platform end-to-end, including orchestration runtime, eval/observability stacks, and integration layers for WMS/TMS/ERP systems.
• Own foundational technical decisions regarding model strategy, harness design, retrieval/memory architecture, and tool/MCP surfaces.
• Build evaluation as a rigorous engineering discipline through datasets, graders, regression suites, and experimentation tooling.
• Spend time in the field with customers to translate real-world operational workflows into durable product patterns.
• Hire and mentor engineers while partnering with the CTO and product leadership on the multi-year platform roadmap.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years of hands-on production work on LLM or agent-based systems.
• Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js.
• Proven experience designing distributed systems, APIs, and data models using PostgreSQL and messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Demonstrated ownership of a non-trivial production agent system, including orchestration, tool use, retrieval, and cost/latency tuning.
• Experience leading 0-to-1 builds in early-stage environments with a high degree of agency and comfort with ambiguity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in vertical AI, forward-deployed engineering, or AI-native data companies.
• Domain exposure to supply chain, logistics, or industrial operations.
