Staff Software Engineer (AI Agents)

Responsibilities

• Architect Traba's agent platform end-to-end, including orchestration runtime, eval/observability stacks, and integration layers for customer systems (WMS/TMS/ERP).
• Own foundational technical decisions regarding model strategy, agent harness design, retrieval/memory architecture, and tool/MCP surfaces.
• Translate real-world customer and operator needs into durable product patterns and repeatable deployment models.
• Build engineering-grade evaluation disciplines, including datasets, graders, regression suites, and experimentation tooling.
• Hire and mentor engineers to set the technical standards for applied AI at Traba.
• Partner with the CTO and product leadership to define and execute the multi-year platform roadmap.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on production work specifically on LLM or agent-based systems.
• Deep proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js.
• Strong track record designing distributed systems, APIs, and data models using PostgreSQL and modern messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or equivalent).
• Demonstrated ownership of a non-trivial production agent system, including orchestration, tool use, retrieval, and cost/latency tuning.
• Experience leading 0-to-1 product builds in early-stage, high-ambiguity environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background at a vertical AI/agent company, an AI-native data company, or in a Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) role.
• Exposure to supply chain, logistics, or industrial operations.
