Staff Software Development Test Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own the complete quality architecture by defining test strategies across all hexagonal layers, including domain core, adapters, and end-to-end scenarios.
• Design and build a golden dataset evaluation framework to seed realistic multi-tenant data across MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB, Elasticsearch, and Kafka.
• Establish AI quality gates to define evaluation criteria for ML model outputs, LLM response quality, and RAG retrieval accuracy.
• Architect test infrastructure using Testcontainers for various databases and messaging systems to enable local integration testing.
• Own the CI/CD quality pipeline by defining automated test gates and blocking quality thresholds at commit, PR, and staging levels.
• Lead root cause analysis for production escapes and mentor Senior SDETs and QA engineers.
• Influence backend and frontend engineering teams on testability, API design, and observability.

Requirements

• 8+ years of QA Engineering, Test Automation, or SDET experience with deep hands-on engineering depth.
• Expertise in designing test strategies for hexagonal architecture.
• Strong programming skills in Java (primary) and Python.
• Expert-level experience with Testcontainers (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Elasticsearch, etc.).
• Proven experience with contract testing (Pact or similar) and deep Kafka testing expertise.
• Experience designing golden dataset strategies and multi-tenant data seeding.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML output validation, including RAG retrieval quality and agentic workflow evaluation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with performance, load, and chaos testing using tools like Gatling or k6.
• Background in AI/ML quality engineering, including evaluation frameworks like RAGAS.
• Prior experience owning quality for a platform serving multiple engineering teams.
• Familiarity with Cosmos DB testing patterns and eventual consistency validation.
