About the role
Responsibilities
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electromechanical failures involving bearings, sheaves, traction machines, and rotating equipment
- Support field mechanics with troubleshooting, repair solutions, and component replacement
- Conduct root cause failure analysis (RRCA) and perform on-site jobsite testing and surveying
- Manage complex technical projects, including the creation of product upgrade packages
- Develop engineering solutions to replace obsolete components and support manufacturing/contract engineering
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including Spare Parts Leaflets (SPLs), Technical Information Publications (TIPs), and engineering drawings
- Provide technical training to peers, mechanics, and field engineers
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical Engineering
- 15+ years of professional engineering experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience troubleshooting rotating equipment and motors
- Strong technical background in bearings, power transmission, and motors
- Ability to perform engineering hand calculations (torque/HP, bearing life, sheave/belt forces, fits/tolerances)
- Proven track record of leading technical projects from concept to release
- Ability to travel 5-10%
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the repair and manufacturing industry
- Knowledge of elevator mechanical components, including hydraulic and traction machines
- Proficiency in PTC Creo and AutoCAD
