Staff Research Scientist, AI Safety

Responsibilities

• Design and build safety evaluations to understand AI capabilities at the frontier of biology
• Collaborate with scientists to build safeguards robust to potential misuse
• Monitor capability advancements and emerging technologies in AI
• Partner with colleagues to develop and evolve frontier safety policy
• Communicate safety work to internal teams and external partners
• Address open scientific questions regarding AI safety in biological contexts

Requirements

• PhD in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Expertise in biological sciences
• Significant experience building, using, or evaluating deep learning systems
• Strong engineering and scientific fundamentals
• Ability to work with ambiguity and rapid iteration
• Strong communication skills for technical and scientific audiences
