Staff R&D Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core components of StarRC, the industry-standard parasitic extraction tool.
• Build and refine capacitance models to enable accurate extraction for advanced technology nodes.
• Develop next-generation parasitic extraction algorithms focused on runtime reduction and memory efficiency.
• Write and enhance Python or Tcl scripts to analyze large datasets and optimize extraction flows.
• Collaborate with domain experts in electromagnetics, circuit modeling, and verification to solve complex technical problems.
• Debug complex issues within a large C++ codebase to improve tool stability and accuracy.

Requirements

• MS degree with at least 3 years of software development experience, or a PhD with focused research in algorithms or numerical methods.
• Strong C++ programming skills with experience in performance-critical software and large codebases.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software development processes (version control, testing, code review).
• Experience working in a Linux environment.
• Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python, Tcl, or Perl for automation and analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in numerical mathematics, optimization, machine learning, or computational electromagnetics.
• Experience applied to EDA or physical modeling problems.
