About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as the subject matter expert for dimensional management and quality strategy for HTS Magnet production and the SPARC Project
- Translate complex design requirements and GD&T into practical manufacturing work instructions and inspection infrastructure
- Architect measurement systems and quality inspection methods for the assembly of large metallic components
- Lead the disposition of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) based on structural integrity and functional requirements
- Analyze manufacturing data using control charts and process capability studies to drive process adjustments
- Facilitate the creation and execution of PFMEAs and Quality Plans for sub-system installations
- Lead advanced Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and Gage R&R studies
- Provide technical coaching and mentorship to QC Inspectors and Quality Engineers regarding GD&T interpretation
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical, Industrial, Material Science, or Manufacturing Engineering
- 10+ years of Quality Engineering experience in manufacturing or assembly environments
- Mastery of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) with the ability to translate theoretical tolerances into practical applications
- Deep knowledge of metrology tools including CMM, Romer Arm, and Laser tracker
- Proficiency with ISO 9001-2015, Six Sigma, SPC, PFMEA, MSA, and APQP
- Experience with Minitab or JMP, MS Excel (including VBA), and MS Visio
- Knowledge of Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) methods such as dye penetrant, ultrasonic, eddy current, and x-ray
- Ability to work in an industrial facility with hazards including high voltage, strong magnets, and cryogenics
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical activities like climbing or standing for extended periods

- Extensive experience with the assembly of large metallic components and welding processes
- Knowledge of cryogenics
