About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based, and culturally responsive clinical services, including triage, crisis intervention, and individual/group psychotherapy.
- Manage a clinical caseload to serve students appropriate for University Health Services Counseling Center services.
- Lead the University Health Services Counseling Center Clinical Practicum and Advanced Clinical Practicum.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Counseling Center and graduate programs for trainees.
- Oversee the practicum application process, orientation, and trainee evaluations.
- Provide consultation to faculty and staff regarding student mental health and available campus resources.
- Conduct outreach efforts to the campus community and develop programming to meet changing student needs.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and statistical reports in accordance with university policy.
Requirements
- Earned doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology from an APA-accredited program.
- Completion of an APA-accredited internship or doctorate in a similar field.
- Licensed or license-eligible psychologist in the state of Massachusetts.
- 3-5 years of post-degree experience delivering evidence-based and culturally responsive treatment to young adults or adults.
- Demonstrated experience working with underserved populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a college or university counseling center.
- Experience providing services through a continuum of care (inpatient, partial hospital, and outpatient).
- Proficiency in a second language other than English.
- Specialty training relevant to the UMass Boston student population.
- Experience with issues related to commuter students and residential life.
- One to two years of experience in teaching and training clinicians.
- Experience with accreditation processes such as APA, AAAHC, JCAHO, or IACS.
