About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial psychiatric evaluations, ongoing clinical assessments, and crisis intervention.
  • Provide medication evaluations and management according to professional standards of care.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff members and community providers to ensure integrated care.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical records.
  • Provide short-term or time-sensitive treatment compatible with the academic calendar.
  • Review student records to determine the progress and effectiveness of treatment services.
  • Participate in staff meetings, treatment plan meetings, and outreach programming.
  • Order lab tests and prepare psychiatric reports as needed.
  • Consult with family members of students when appropriate.

Requirements

  • MD degree with completion of an ACGME accredited residency in Psychiatry OR Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certification.
  • Unrestricted New York State medical license.
  • Unrestricted DEA license.
  • Board certification in Psychiatry or certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • At least two years of clinical experience.
  • Ability to work part-time (7-10 hours per week) following the academic calendar (36 weeks per year).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a university mental health setting.
  • Strong understanding of developmental and mental health challenges affecting late adolescents and young adults.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence in delivering care to diverse student populations.
