Staff Product Engineer

About the Company

Blacksmith builds infrastructure to run CI workloads faster and cheaper by operating a global fleet of bare-metal machines. They orchestrate tens of millions of Firecracker VMs monthly and are expanding their CI infrastructure into a broader platform for agent sandboxes and background coding agents.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the architectural direction for new, industry-defining products
• Translate business and product strategy into long-term technical roadmaps
• Drive the development of products from 0-1
• Accountable for production outcomes, including reliability, performance, and operational excellence
• Mentor senior engineers and act as a force multiplier
• Operate effectively in ambiguous problem spaces to define both problems and solutions

Requirements

• Expertise in building products that deliver exceptional customer experiences
• Experience setting and leading technical direction for products from early stages
• Power user of coding agents and familiarity with agentic development
• Track record of leading through influence as an individual contributor
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
