Staff Product Designer

Responsibilities

• Lead design on foundational layers and platform-wide initiatives
• Partner with design, product, and engineering leadership to set platform direction
• Define patterns, primitives, and interaction models for scale
• Ship production code alongside engineering and build coded prototypes
• Design AI-first capabilities focusing on trust, transparency, and user control
• Build custom tooling, agents, and micro-apps to raise team AI practice
• Evolve the Dialtone design system
• Mentor designers and coach peers on craft and AI fluency

Requirements

• 8+ years of high-quality product design experience
• Proven track record in platform-level or foundational design (design systems, infrastructure, or AI capabilities)
• Experience treating AI as a design medium rather than just a feature
• Ability to build AI tooling such as agents, micro-apps, or CLI workflows
• Experience shipping code into production codebases and using coded prototypes
• Strong system thinking and ability to design cohesive end-to-end experiences
• Excellent communication skills for cross-functional stakeholders
• Portfolio demonstrating impactful work and recent AI-native design practice

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience shipping AI-native products, agentic workflows, or conversational interfaces
• Experience building internal prototyping infrastructure or developer-facing design systems
• Background in SaaS, communications, contact centers, or real-time collaboration platforms
• Active contribution to the design community through writing, speaking, or open source
