Staff/Principal Platform Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end architecture of the Kape Partner Portal, including Rust backend services and Next.js frontend.
• Design and evolve a scalable, multi-tenant control plane for partner onboarding, entitlements, and SDK licensing.
• Lead AI-assisted development by orchestrating AI agents (such as Claude Code) to design prompts, workflows, and validate generated output.
• Make pragmatic technology choices across the full stack (Rust, Next.js, PostgreSQL, Redis) and infrastructure (AWS).
• Define and own standards for observability, reliability, and security using tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
• Design clean, well-documented REST APIs for internal services and enterprise partner integrations.
• Partner with product and business teams to lead technical sessions and presentations for enterprise customers.

Requirements

• Proven experience architecting scalable, multi-tenant B2B SaaS systems.
• Strong full-stack development experience with a clear mental model of how backend, frontend, and databases interact.
• Expertise in AI-assisted engineering, specifically the ability to orchestrate and supervise AI agents to deliver production-grade code.
• Deep understanding of system design fundamentals, including distributed systems, concurrency, and performance trade-offs.
• Solid proficiency in REST API design, database modeling, and caching strategies.
• Excellent communication skills for both deep technical reviews and high-level stakeholder engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Terraform or Scalr within an AWS environment.
• Hands-on experience with observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
• Background in identity, authentication, secure networking, or VPN platforms.
• Experience designing or shipping SDKs and cross-platform libraries.
