About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own power electronics hardware for high power density integrated motor drives from concept to production
  • Translate product requirements into inverter flowdown requirements
  • Lead schematic design and high-density PCB layout using Altium
  • Design and optimize wide-bandgap power stages (SiC and/or GaN)
  • Engineer for low parasitics using simulation and measurement tools
  • Develop and validate designs using circuit and system simulation
  • Drive EMI/EMC design, debugging, and compliance efforts
  • Build and execute hardware test and characterization plans
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Manufacturing on DFM/DFT and BOM ownership
  • Collaborate with motor control teams for system bring-up

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in power electronics hardware
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Deep experience with high-density PCB layout (Altium preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience with wide-bandgap devices (SiC/GaN)
  • Strong debugging and hardware bring-up skills
  • Proficiency in Altium and at least one simulation tool (LTSpice, PLECS, or MATLAB/Simulink)
  • Strong fundamentals in power conversion, magnetics, and sensing/isolation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience taking inverters from concept to production in aerospace or automotive
  • Experience with EMI/EMC standards like DO-160G
  • Experience with parasitics extraction tools like Ansys Q3D
  • Familiarity with motor drive systems (PMSMs, FOC)
  • Mechanical integration awareness and Solidworks proficiency
  • Track record of mentoring engineers
