About the role
Responsibilities
- Own power electronics hardware for high power density integrated motor drives from concept to production
- Translate product requirements into inverter flowdown requirements
- Lead schematic design and high-density PCB layout using Altium
- Design and optimize wide-bandgap power stages (SiC and/or GaN)
- Engineer for low parasitics using simulation and measurement tools
- Develop and validate designs using circuit and system simulation
- Drive EMI/EMC design, debugging, and compliance efforts
- Build and execute hardware test and characterization plans
- Partner with Supply Chain and Manufacturing on DFM/DFT and BOM ownership
- Collaborate with motor control teams for system bring-up
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in power electronics hardware
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Deep experience with high-density PCB layout (Altium preferred)
- Demonstrated experience with wide-bandgap devices (SiC/GaN)
- Strong debugging and hardware bring-up skills
- Proficiency in Altium and at least one simulation tool (LTSpice, PLECS, or MATLAB/Simulink)
- Strong fundamentals in power conversion, magnetics, and sensing/isolation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience taking inverters from concept to production in aerospace or automotive
- Experience with EMI/EMC standards like DO-160G
- Experience with parasitics extraction tools like Ansys Q3D
- Familiarity with motor drive systems (PMSMs, FOC)
- Mechanical integration awareness and Solidworks proficiency
- Track record of mentoring engineers
