Staff Platform Engineer

Citizen Health is building a personalized AI advocate for rare disease patients. By combining data, AI, and community, Citizen provides personalized insights for clinical decisions and day-to-day challenges, helping patients navigate complex healthcare landscapes.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction and platform strategy for the agentic AI platform
• Design architectures for long-running AI agent sessions and real-time messaging
• Own the deployment pipeline (CI/CD) to enable high-frequency shipping
• Manage inference costs, GPU capacity, and compute optimization
• Maintain security and compliance standards including HIPAA and SOC 2
• Define SLOs, build observability stacks, and lead incident response
• Partner with AI, Web, Mobile, and Data engineering teams

Requirements

• 8+ years of software or infrastructure engineering experience
• 4+ years in a senior IC or technical leadership role (Platform, SRE, or DevOps)
• Deep expertise with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi)
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or TypeScript
• Proven track record of scaling infrastructure through significant growth
• Strong security fundamentals (IAM, secrets management, network segmentation)
• Experience in early-stage or high-growth startup environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting AI/ML workloads (model serving, GPU infrastructure, vector databases)
• Familiarity with agentic AI systems or multi-agent orchestration
• Experience with large-scale messaging infrastructure (WhatsApp, SMS, webhooks)
• Background in regulated domains like healthtech, fintech, or life sciences
• Knowledge of healthcare data standards like FHIR or HL7
