About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical assessments for individuals referred to the intake and assessment unit
  • Perform history and physical examinations on new and existing clients
  • Communicate with community physicians and health agencies to facilitate treatment
  • Monitor client health status and provide consultation to case managers and interdisciplinary teams
  • Serve as an advocate to ensure appropriate health services are available to developmentally disabled individuals
  • Provide education and consultation for Regional Center staff and community professionals
  • Represent the agency at meetings of community physicians

Requirements

  • Licensed Physician in the State of California
  • One year of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities
  • Valid driver's license and automobile
  • Computer proficiency
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity to diverse populations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Residency in pediatrics
  • Background in internal medicine or neurology
  • Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics board certification
