Staff Physical Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end physical implementation for SoC blocks and top-level designs, including floor planning, placement, CTS, routing, and physical optimization to achieve PPA targets.
• Lead timing closure (setup/hold) across complex multi-mode, multi-corner (MMMC) scenarios.
• Collaborate with design, integration, and system teams to ensure robust implementation of clocking, reset strategies, and power intent (UPF/CPF).
• Perform physical signoff activities including DRC/LVS, IR drop, EM reliability, and noise analysis.
• Support tape-out readiness, including signoff checklists, ECO implementation, and risk reviews.
• Contribute to post-silicon debug and silicon bring-up to correlate silicon behavior with physical intent.
• Improve productivity through scripting, automation, and the development of best-practice methodologies.
• Mentor and guide less-experienced engineers and contribute to technical skill development within the team.

Requirements

• 9+ years of hands-on experience in physical design implementation for complex SoC or large-scale digital blocks.
• Proven experience working on advanced process technology nodes (e.g., 5nm, 3nm).
• Proficiency with industry-standard place-and-route tools such as Cadence Innovus and/or Synopsys IC Compiler II.
• Expertise in physical verification and signoff closure, including DRC, LVS, and antenna checks.
• Strong understanding of power integrity and reliability analysis, including IR drop and electro-migration (EM).
• Experience in automation and scripting using Tcl, Python, or equivalent languages.
• B.Tech or M.Tech in Electronics, VLSI Engineering, or a related field.
