Staff Physical Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end physical implementation including floorplanning, power planning, placement, CTS, routing, and ECO for complex blocks or subsystems.
• Drive timing closure, congestion resolution, IR/EM, signal integrity, and physical verification (DRC/LVS/antenna) to meet PPA targets.
• Develop and enhance physical design methodologies, scripts, and flows to improve automation and reduce turnaround time.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to a small group of engineers, including task breakdown and quality reviews.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with RTL design, STA, DFT, and CAD teams to converge on implementation-friendly architectures.

Requirements

• 8–12+ years of experience in physical design implementation for complex digital SoCs.
• Proven hands-on expertise with industry-standard PNR and signoff tools such as Cadence Innovus, Synopsys ICC2, Tempus, PrimeTime, RedHawk, or Voltus.
• Demonstrated success closing challenging designs on advanced technology nodes (e.g., 22nm down to 4nm).
• Deep understanding of floorplanning, power grid/PDN methodology, advanced clock tree design, and STA constraints.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical trade-offs to diverse audiences.
