Staff Nurse I

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the 5NE Surgical unit, integrating evidence-based practice and nursing excellence to improve patient outcomes.
• Develop, implement, and update patient plans of care based on ongoing assessments and family input.
• Verify and implement medical orders from physicians, physician assistants, or advanced practice nurses.
• Recognize changing patient symptoms, establish priorities, and respond to acute needs.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team and delegate appropriate tasks to support personnel per the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act.
• Advocate for patients, families, and the nursing profession.
• Assume the role of Charge Nurse when assigned and serve as a preceptor or resource to other staff and students.

Requirements

• Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state of Illinois.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
• Current ACLS certification, or ability to obtain it within 6 months of hire.
• Intermediate computer skills with the ability to learn Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
• Effective oral and written communication skills to facilitate therapeutic relationships.
• Must establish Illinois residency within 180 days of hire.
