Staff Nurse I

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the 6W MICU, integrating evidence-based practice and nursing excellence to improve patient outcomes
• Develop, implement, and update patient plans of care based on ongoing assessments and family input
• Verify and implement medical orders from physicians, physician assistants, and advanced practice nurses
• Recognize symptoms, establish priorities, and respond to changing patient needs promptly
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote effective care and advocate for patients and their families
• Delegate appropriate tasks to support personnel in accordance with the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act
• Assume the role of Charge Nurse when assigned and serve as a preceptor or resource to other staff and students

Requirements

• Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state of Illinois
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, or ability to obtain it within 6 months of hire
• Intermediate computer skills with the ability to learn Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
• Effective oral and written communication skills to facilitate therapeutic relationships
• Must establish Illinois residency within 180 days of the hire date

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
• Previous experience in an ICU setting
• CCRN certification
