Staff Nurse I

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and update patient plans of care based on ongoing assessments and family input
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote effective patient care and share critical information
• Verify and implement medical orders from physicians and advanced practice nurses, ensuring accurate documentation in the EHR
• Recognize changing patient symptoms, establish priorities, and respond to acute needs
• Advocate for patients, families, and the nursing profession
• Delegate appropriate tasks to support personnel in accordance with the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act
• Assume the role of Charge Nurse when assigned
• Serve as a preceptor or resource for other nursing staff, students, and support personnel

Requirements

• Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state of Illinois
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Current ACLS certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
• Intermediate computer skills with the ability to learn Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
• Effective oral and written communication skills to facilitate therapeutic relationships
• Must establish Illinois residency within 180 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
• Previous experience in an ICU setting
• CCRN certification
