Staff Nurse I - Operating Room

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Operating Room, including scrub and circulating functions
• Develop, implement, and update patient plans of care based on ongoing assessments
• Perform scrub functions, including the selection and handling of surgical instruments and supplies
• Perform circulating functions, including monitoring patient condition and managing nursing care before, during, and after procedures
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote effective patient care and advocate for patient needs
• Verify and implement orders from physicians, physician assistants, or advanced practice nurses
• Assist providers with procedures and provide guidance during medical emergencies
• Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment while adhering to aseptic techniques
• Serve as a preceptor or resource to other nursing staff and students when required

Requirements

• Registered Professional Nurse licensure in the State of Illinois
• BSN degree from an accredited nursing program
• Minimum of 2 years of operating room experience
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Current ACLS/PALS certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
• Proficiency with electronic health records and intermediate computer skills
• Must be able to establish Illinois residency within 180 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Nursing Certification
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system
