About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the Hematology Oncology Infusion Center, including the administration of chemotherapy, blood products, fluids, and injections.
- Develop, implement, and update individualized patient care plans based on ongoing assessments and family input.
- Recognize and treat cancer-related issues and respond to changing patient needs.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote effective care and advocate for patients and their families.
- Verify and implement medical orders from physicians and advanced practice nurses, ensuring accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Serve as a preceptor or resource to other nursing staff and students, and assume the role of Charge Nurse when assigned.
- Delegate appropriate tasks to support personnel in accordance with the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act.
Requirements
- Registered Professional Nurse licensure in the state of Illinois.
- One year of prior Oncology RN experience.
- 1-2 years of prior Infusion experience.
- Current Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy certification (or obtained prior to hire).
- Current AHA BLS/CPR certification.
- Must establish Illinois residency within 180 days of hire.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate therapeutic relationships.
- Intermediate computer skills and ability to learn EHR systems.

- Experience in an outpatient ambulatory setting.
