Staff Nurse I - Hematology Oncology

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Hematology Oncology Infusion Center, including the administration of chemotherapy, blood products, fluids, and injections.
• Develop, implement, and update individualized patient care plans based on ongoing assessments and family input.
• Recognize and treat cancer-related issues and respond to changing patient needs.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote effective care and advocate for patients and their families.
• Verify and implement medical orders from physicians and advanced practice nurses, ensuring accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Serve as a preceptor or resource to other nursing staff and students, and assume the role of Charge Nurse when assigned.
• Delegate appropriate tasks to support personnel in accordance with the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act.

Requirements

• Registered Professional Nurse licensure in the state of Illinois.
• One year of prior Oncology RN experience.
• 1-2 years of prior Infusion experience.
• Current Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy certification (or obtained prior to hire).
• Current AHA BLS/CPR certification.
• Must establish Illinois residency within 180 days of hire.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate therapeutic relationships.
• Intermediate computer skills and ability to learn EHR systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an outpatient ambulatory setting.
