Staff ML Backend Engineer

Nidus is building autonomous manufacturing systems powered by AI and robotics. We are building the intelligence layer that lets machines run autonomously, enabling manufacturers to scale production without scaling headcount.

Responsibilities

• Own the data collection and storage pipeline for robotics sensor data
• Make technical decisions regarding efficient storage and processing of sensor data
• Build software for analytics, monitoring, and visualization of data
• Function as a research engineer for the ML team by building tooling and infrastructure to accelerate iteration cycles

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in backend engineering
• Expertise in building scalable distributed systems
• Strong proficiency in Python, Rust, or C++
• Experience building ML infrastructure for video and sensor data
• Experience with time series databases or sensor data storage techniques
• Strong grasp of system design, API design, and performance optimization

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with robotics systems, real-time data processing, or edge computing
• Familiarity with ML frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Experience with model serving platforms such as TorchServe, TensorFlow Serving, or NVIDIA Triton
• Background in manufacturing systems, industrial automation, or hardware-software integration
• Experience with high-frequency data streaming
• Understanding of GPU infrastructure and ML workload optimization
