Staff Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of a full electrode assembly or complex cell sub-assembly integral to the battery cell electrodes and electrode stack assembly
• Develop functional requirements and DFMEAs in close collaboration with Cell, Electrode, and Systems Engineering teams
• Perform hands-on prototyping of designs and collaborate with broader teams to build integrated prototypes
• Release designs consistent with company best practices, including drawings and tolerance analysis
• Demonstrate design functionality through analysis such as FEA and CFD and component-level testing
• Work with vendors, manufacturing engineers, and technical operations to transition designs from prototype to high-volume production
• Drive verification testing of your design work

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 10+ years of industry experience with a Bachelor's, or 8+ years with a Master's
• Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD modeling and drafting
• Expertise in DFMA for injection molded plastic and formed/stamped metal components
• Experience with design and verification of fluidic systems and CFD
• Proficiency with prototyping techniques and machine shop environments
• Experience as a design lead or program lead for mechanical engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with the design and verification of air or liquid seals
• Experience working with batteries, energy storage, fuel cells, or electrolyzers
