Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, prototype, and test the air delivery system to meet critical performance requirements
  • Build and maintain air delivery flow system models that inform design architecture decisions
  • Fabricate and test first-of-a-kind prototypes to validate system design choices
  • Design the product for high-volume manufacturing and cost reduction
  • Lead critical vendor engagements and collaborate with manufacturing engineers for production transition
  • Collaborate with Electrical and Controls teams to optimize actuator and sensor integration
  • Mentor junior engineers and champion safety in laboratory processes

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years of industry experience in mechanical design of equipment or liquid/gas handling systems
  • Understanding of first-principles fluids modeling
  • Experience optimizing designs for manufacturing and cost-down
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment or with contract manufacturing vendors
  • Experience optimizing mechanical design, fluid flow networks, and interdisciplinary interfaces
  • Experience in product development within early-stage environments ramping into production
