Responsibilities
- Architect, design, prototype, and test the air delivery system to meet critical performance requirements
- Build and maintain air delivery flow system models that inform design architecture decisions
- Fabricate and test first-of-a-kind prototypes to validate system design choices
- Design the product for high-volume manufacturing and cost reduction
- Lead critical vendor engagements and collaborate with manufacturing engineers for production transition
- Collaborate with Electrical and Controls teams to optimize actuator and sensor integration
- Mentor junior engineers and champion safety in laboratory processes
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of industry experience in mechanical design of equipment or liquid/gas handling systems
- Understanding of first-principles fluids modeling
- Experience optimizing designs for manufacturing and cost-down
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment or with contract manufacturing vendors
- Experience optimizing mechanical design, fluid flow networks, and interdisciplinary interfaces
- Experience in product development within early-stage environments ramping into production
