Staff Mechanical Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Serve as Mechanical Engineer of Record for industrial plants, hazardous occupancy, and clean spaces
• Design mechanical and plumbing systems including HVAC, industrial water, process heating/cooling, and abatement systems
• Review conceptual designs to identify technical and financial risks
• Ensure all mechanical engineering deliverables comply with relevant codes and quality standards
• Develop and improve project workflows and engineering standards
• Support on-field construction and commissioning as a technical point of contact
• Collaborate on equipment general arrangements, P&IDs, isometrics, and material takeoffs
• Travel to project sites and meetings as required

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with NCEES record
• 7+ years of experience in HVAC and Plumbing/FP design
• Expert knowledge of ICC codes, NFPA standards, SMACNA, ACGIH, and ASHRAE
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
• Experience with engineering software such as Pipe-Flo, Caesar II, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, Navisworks, or Bluebeam
• Ability to specify ductwork and piping materials for various systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with abatement systems (thermal oxidizers, scrubbers)
• Knowledge of heat exchangers, control valves, and instrumentation
• Experience with heat recovery systems and writing sequences of operation for HVAC systems
