Staff Mechanical Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own subsystem-level mechanical solutions for demanding thermal and high-vibration environments
• Represent the mechanical discipline in design reviews and customer engagements
• Support hardware integration, verification, and production readiness
• Collaborate with structural and thermal analysts to ensure spacecraft integrity
• Conduct mechanical testing including vibration, static load, and shock testing
• Support TVAC testing as needed

Requirements

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
• 12-15+ years of relevant experience
• Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks
• Strong understanding of structural analysis, FEA, and hand calculations
• Expertise in drafting standards including GD&T
• Experience defining requirements for mechanical systems and components
• Familiarity with space environments, material selection, and coatings
• Understanding of spacecraft structural loads
• Excellent technical communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing and testing space hardware with on-orbit success
• Experience running structural vibration or TVAC tests
• Previous experience with DoD or USG development programs
• Ability to hold and maintain a USG Security Clearance
