Staff Machine Learning Engineer

Responsibilities

• Turn Applied Sciences prototype models (tabular, NLP/LLM, recommendation, forecasting) into fast, reliable services with well-defined API contracts.
• Build and orchestrate CI/CD pipelines and inference microservices (REST/gRPC) with stringent latency targets.
• Implement prompt management, including versioning, A/B testing, guardrails, and dynamic orchestration.
• Design batch/stream pipelines using tools like Airflow, Kubeflow, Spark, or Flink.
• Manage the full model/feature lifecycle, including feature store strategy, model registries, and lineage.
• Instrument deep observability for traces, logs, metrics, data drift, and cost tracking.
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to design enterprise-scale systems.

Requirements

• 8-11+ years of experience in ML engineering, MLOps, or backend/platform engineering with production ML.
• Extensive experience with LLMs, retrieval systems, vector stores, and graph/knowledge stores.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one of Java, Go, or Scala.
• Hands-on experience with orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex.
• Strong knowledge of data pipelines (Airflow, Kubeflow, Spark, or Flink) and streaming (Kafka/Kinesis).
• Proficiency with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with AWS services (ECS/EKS, S3, RDS/DynamoDB, Lambda, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with agent architectures (reactive, planning, RAG) and safe execution patterns.
• Knowledge of model ops tools like MLflow and observability stacks like OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• Experience with performance and reliability engineering, including circuit breakers and autoscaling.
• A product-oriented mindset focused on delivering measurable consumer and dealer outcomes.
