Staff Fuel Cycle & Blanket Test Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the operation, testing, and maintenance of laboratory systems for fusion fuel cycle and molten salt technology development
• Own infrastructure support, commissioning activities, and the execution of complex test plans
• Design, commission, and run test campaigns in collaboration with Tritium and Blanket Program leads
• Perform general upkeep and preventative maintenance on gas handling and molten salt facility systems and laboratory equipment
• Author and revise operations procedures and document facility learnings to drive continuous improvement
• Support the training and development of new operators in tritium handling and balance of plant equipment

Requirements

• MS in Engineering (chemical, mechanical, aerospace, materials), Physics, Chemistry, or a related field
• 10 years of professional experience, including R&D testing execution
• Proven experience working collaboratively in a laboratory setting with technicians and senior scientists
• Strong expertise in rigorous data management and technical documentation
• Ability to generate formal presentations and succinctly summarize findings for diverse audiences
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate rigging equipment for maintenance operations
• Dedication to safety in environments involving heat, cold, high voltage, and cryogenics

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with high purity gases and glovebox operations for hazardous material handling
• Experience with analytical equipment and building high vacuum systems
• Proficiency with Confluence and JIRA tools
• Ability to interpret P&ID layouts and HMI indications for plant status
