Staff Forward Deployed Engineer, Physical Sciences

Responsibilities

• Developing, wrapping, and adapting domain-specific tools for data analysis, process optimization, and molecular modeling
• Deploying custom, agentic scientific workflows that integrate with industrial instruments and data systems
• Building real-time data pipelines to transform scientific data into actionable insights
• Creating intuitive interfaces for complex AI/ML capabilities
• Architecting solutions that scale from proof-of-concept to enterprise-wide deployment

Requirements

• Domain expertise in chemistry, materials science, or related field
• Experience with data engineering, ETL pipelines, and complex datasets
• Strong full-stack development skills (backend, frontend, and data layers)
• Outstanding communication skills for interfacing with executives and manufacturing staff
• Willingness to travel to customer sites for frequent and extended deployments

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous customer-facing or consulting experience
• Depth in controls engineering and machine learning
• Experience with scientific computing libraries like NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, or RDKit
• Familiarity with ML/AI implementation and deployment
• Familiarity with modern web technologies such as TypeScript and React
