Staff Fire Protection Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform professional-level fire protection engineering services including life safety code consulting, fire protection design, and smoke control system design
• Develop plans, specifications, and inspection reports for assigned tasks
• Assist in resolving design problems through field investigations, inspections, and detailed design work
• Identify applicable codes and standards for evaluating inquiries
• Conduct building code analyses, egress analyses, and fire detection/alarm system reviews
• Apply engineering calculations for means of egress, building area, and sprinkler system water supplies
• Perform fire hazard and dust hazard analyses
• Communicate effectively with project team members and clients
• Prepare CAD documentation as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or higher in an engineering field
• 3-6 years of relevant experience
• Effective written and oral communication skills for report writing and presentations
• Passion for fire code safety
• Must be local to Austin, Texas (this is an onsite position)
