About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead new product introductions, design transfers, and equipment improvements from R&D to production.
- Manage cross-functional teams to plan and execute large-scale automation and equipment projects within scope and budget.
- Determine design specifications, build prototypes, and evaluate equipment for functionality, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Develop processes, procedures, and documentation records in compliance with regulatory and quality requirements.
- Provide technical expertise for engineering controls, risk assessments, design reviews, and commissioning protocols.
- Support existing equipment through troubleshooting, repair, planned maintenance, and performance monitoring in a GMP environment.
- Mentor junior engineers and set the technical direction for project teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with 8+ years of experience, or an Associate degree in Engineering, Technology, or Electronics with 10+ years of experience.
- Proven experience in specifying, selecting, designing, and integrating manufacturing systems and components.
- Strong proficiency in project management methodologies to lead complex, multi-priority projects.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor less experienced engineering staff.
- Ability to work independently within a matrix organization and communicate project status clearly to leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating biological systems with automation and software in life sciences, biotech, or medical device fields.
- Experience working in FDA, cGMP, CAP, or CLIA regulated production environments.
- Proficiency with Electronic Quality Management Systems (Agile) and Manufacturing Software Systems (SAP).
